THE QUICKSANDS OF THE INFORMATION ENVIRONMENT: A REVIEW OF SONYA TSANKOVA’S BOOK “MANIPULATION, INFORMATIONA OR… WHAT?

Abstract

The review examines the relevant and in the current political moment research of Dr. Sonja Tsankova “Manipulation, information or... what?” (2018). Using a rich palette of research on communication and media issues (by Bulgarian, English and Russian scientists), the author relies on two basic theories: informational-communicative and linguistic (including psychotechnologies). Through them, he reveals the essence of manipulation, the management of information flows and the formation of quasi-reality. The research includes analyzes primarily of three media and information spheres – political, news and advertising.
