THE PUBLISHING ACTIVITY OF THE NARODNA BIBLIOTEKA “PETKO R. SLAVEYKOV” – VELIKO TARNOVO FROM ITS ESTABLISHMENT UNTIL TODAY

Abstract

An overview of the publishing activity of the Petko R. Slaveykov National Library – Veliko Tarnovo from 1889 to the present day has been made. In the period 1889–1922 there is no information about the publishing activity of the library except the first normative documents for organization and management of the first public library in Veliko Tarnovo, the period from 1922 to 1942 is also very limited in the publishing activity. The planned publishing activity of the library is carried out from the end of the 50s to the 80s of the XX century. The most active publishing activity has been carried out since the beginning of the XXI century and above all with the registration of the publishing house Narodna biblioteka “P. R. Slaveykov” – Veliko Tarnovo in 2007. For a period of 13 years the library publishes 52 books in various genres such as local history editions, monographs, collections of reports from scientific conferences, poetry collections, children’s editions, anniversary newspapers, etc. In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, the library published 3 books and two new titles “The Municipality of Tarnovo 1763–1878” and “Veliko Tarnovo Journalism 1878–2020”are to be printed, again with the sign of the Narodna biblioteka “P. R. Slaveykov”– Veliko Tarnovo.
