Abstract

The article is an overview of the “Pencho Slaveykov” Regional library history of publishing and its trends in publishing development. In times when publishing industry constantly meets new challenges it is important how the libraries are placed in the publishing field, what are their publishing politics and programmes and how they adapt their publications in a world that is rapidly changing. Varna Regional library publishing activity is viewed in two perspectives: the first one includes “traditional” printed publications like catalogues, bibliographies, internal rules and regulations, special editions etc., and the second one is focused on the innovative formats in publishing and on the new role of the library as a publisher.
