THE GOLDEN AGE QUEENS OF CRIME FICTION IN THE REALMS OF BULGARIAN PUBLISHING

Abstract

This publication constitutes an attempt, through the utilisation of empirical means, comparative analysis, and historical comparison, to ascertain the reasons why some of the most renowned and influential authors, perceived as the Queens of Crime fiction during the Golden Age of the genre, have not been granted their rightful place in Bulgarian publishing industry and have remained unknown or little known to the reading public. With the exception of Agatha Christie, authors such as Margery Allingham, Ngaio Marsh, and Dorothy L. Sayers, regardless of their contribution to the development of the crime genre, remain neglected and underappreciated by Bulgarian book publishing.
