THE “IVAN B. KASSUROFF” BOOKSELLING COMPANY AND COURT BOOKSTORE (1885–1947/1948)

Abstract

This article treats an unresearched topic, i.e. history of the bookselling company with a court bookstore of the Kasuroff family, operating in Sofia in the period of 1890s–1940s. Based on primary sources, a historical reconstruction of the processes of establishment and functioning of the enterprise is carried out. Its activities are commented from the perspective of its contribution to the Bulgarian literary and documentary cultural heritage and in the context of the transmission of foreign cultural models.
