PRIMUM NON NOCERE: THE CONTRIBUTION OF DR. DIMITAR PANTELEEV FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF BIBLIOTHERAPY IN BULGARIA

Abstract

Dr. Dimitar Lozanov Panteleev made an exceptional contribution to the introduction and acceptance of bibliotherapy in Bulgaria. A number of new forms of work introduced in practice expanding the horizons of Bulgarian science resulted from his many years of experience as a psychiatrist. He was engaged in the study of psychopathology in the literary activity of the mentally ill and created a methodology of literary psychogram as a psychological diagnostic test and a kind of entertaining therapy. This report aims to present the contribution of Dr. Dimitar Panteleev to the application of bibliotherapeutic methods in programs for therapy and socialization of depressed patients.
