Abstract

The private libraries of Bulgarian intellectuals and scholars are a significant component of the special collections with rare and Bulgarian revival books (1801–1878) in the libraries of the country. One of the usual practices in receiving such donations is the following distribution of the books in collections built on a different thematic and chronological features, thus making their reconstruction and research difficult or impossible. This leads to a deficit of the main sources in researches related to private libraries history and history of the reading. Such is the case with the private collection of priest Milan Dimov. Fragments of his library are found in the collection of old printed books of the National Library of Bulgaria “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” during the research work on the project “Digitization of the repertoire of the Bulgarian Revival literature (1801–1878)”.
